Cyclist Airlifted by Wales Air Ambulance

Wales Air Ambulance’s Swansea based helicopter responded to an emergency call yesterday (20th June) to attend a cyclist who had been involved in a road traffic collision.

The air ambulance received the call at 17.19 to attend a male in his 40s who had sustained head injuries after being involved in an incident on the A40 near Carmarthen.

The helicopter arrived on scene at 17.38 and began to deliver treatment to the patient before taking him directly to Cardiff’s specialist unit for neurology, arriving within 20 minutes of leaving the scene of the accident.

Chris Connor, HEMS Paramedic said: “With serious injuries such as head trauma the patient needs to receive specialist medical care as quickly as possible. We were able to provide fast medical attention and deliver the patient to a specialist unit where he will receive attention for his injuries.”
