Change in force from 1 May
Egypt will increase its tourist visa fees from US$15 (GBP8.90) to US$25 (GBP14.84) on Thursday (1 May).
The changes come into force as tourism authorities look to claw back tourism numbers heavily impacted by the revolution in 2011 and further protests.
Costs were initially meant to increase in November 2013 but were then postponed to February and again to May.
Tourism minister Hesham Zazou said the ‘slight’ increase is not expected to affect the current flow of tourists to the country.
Tourist numbers to Egypt dropped 28% in the first two months of 2014 to 1.3 million compared to January and February 2013.
The UK FCO still advises against all travel to the North Sinai and the South Sinai with the exception of the Sharm el Sheikh area. Extra security has been put in place in the popular holiday resort.
