A Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet has arrived at St Athan Aerospace Business Park in a landing that makes aviation history.
It is the first time a Boeing 747 has landed at St Athan. One of the most recognisable aircraft in the industry, it arrived at the former RAF airbase today after a six-and-a-half hour flight from North Kentucky International Airport in the United States.
The 21-year-old aeroplane, the 1,000th Boeing 747 to be manufactured, has been used most recently as a freighter with the US airline Southern Air Transport.
The 230-tonne aircraft will now be sold to CASCO Ltd, a UK-based aircraft spare parts trading business.
